\r\n Understanding the Prophet's Life |
Charity \r\n for Every Joint \r\n Abu Huraira (May Allah be pleased with him) narrated: \r\n The Messenger of Allah (may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) \r\n said: \r\n Each person's every joint must perform a charity \r\n (Sadaqa) every day the sun comes up: \r\n
\r\n In this Hadith the Prophet (peace be upon him) has given us a few examples \r\n of acts of 'charity' (Sadaqa) that we should perform on \r\n daily basis. Charity in this Hadith doesn't \r\n refer to the act of giving money in Allah's way only, but in fact, it \r\n is a comprehensive term that includes any act or gesture that would help \r\n the community and would increase our awareness of Allah and His bounties. \r\n There are many out there in this world who think whatever power and material \r\n gains they possess today are due to their own efforts! However, Islam \r\n teaches us to reflect upon even the smallest of Allah's favours that we \r\n often take for granted, such as the smooth and proper functioning of our \r\n joints and organs in the body. We are taught to be humble and to thank \r\n Allah by being kind, helpful, and charitable towards our brothers and \r\n sisters, as well as to anyone in the society, regardless of their faith \r\n and culture. In addition, we realize from this Hadith that "Ibada" \r\n (worship of Allah) doesn't only include the devotion through acts of worship, \r\n but it also includes any action to help and support the \r\n community, done to please Allah, such as, visiting the sick, saying a \r\n word of advice or kindness, giving someone a ride to the Masjid or school, \r\n uniting two sisters or friends after an argument, etc. |

\r\n \r\n First Step Towards \r\n Change! \r\n \r\n The first step in self-development, \r\n is to concentrate single-mindedly on Paradise. Indeed, \r\n the one who is unsure of his destiny in life, torn between this world \r\n and the Next, like the one standing with his feet in two separate \r\n boats- will be thrown off the balance. Many of our difficulties that \r\n we face are due to this lack of commitment to this Goal. \r\n The selection of our ultimate goal of Paradise may \r\n involve an absolute break with our \r\n past. To choose this new goal in one's life is in \r\n fact to choose a new life, to begin a new journey. Embark on this \r\n new journey by refreshing your Wudu (ablution) and offering \r\n two Rakas (units) of prayer, reminding yourself of all the \r\n punishment of Hellfire you have just resolved to avoid at all costs \r\n and all the rewards of Paradise that you will strive to achieve! Remind \r\n yourself also of the important landmarks on the journey: imagine death \r\n as near; imagine the moment when the Angel of Death will declare, \r\n "Your time is over, now you must follow me"; imagine that \r\n moment when you will be made to stand before Allah, the Most High, \r\n and image the consequences of the Judgment. When you have completed \r\n the two Rakas then make a commitment once more that all your \r\n efforts will be directed towards achieving Paradise, and ask Allah \r\n to help you. \r\n While improvement in \r\n your habits and actions is a life-long process, the desire to achieve \r\n it can thus be sparked in a moment. This desire will \r\n provide the momentum for attaining your goal- The good pleasure of \r\n Allah and Paradise. \r\n Let's take this first step towards Change! \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n Source: \r\n \r\n |
